How to install Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) 64bit on VMWare Workstation

Select the Virtual Machine, created for this Installation. Go to setting and select the ISO image file. Press OK and Power On the Virtual Machine in which we are going to Install the OS.

Above Screen will come up. Press Enter to proceed..

Press Next.

If you would like to check the media disk before installation up to you else skip. After you click skip, it will find the media and below screen will come..

Select the Language as English. Press Next.

Select U.S English and Press Next..Select the Basic Storage Devices below if you are new to Linux Installation.

As we are using VMWare to have our O.S so it will ask to format the whole drive whatever we have assigned to our machine.

Now give a name to this Machine which can be changed later on. Here we are giving as OEL64.localdomain. This name identifies this machine in the network. Press Next at extreme right corner.

Select the nearest city in your Zone. Select Asia/Kolkata and press next.

Give the password for root and press next:

Next screen will ask you “Which type of installation would you like?”

Select : Create Custom Layout

Created the Logical Volume like Below from 30 GB of Hard Disk. Press Next.

Click Format.

Image

Click on Writes Changes to Disk and Press Next.

Leave as it is and Press Next.

Image

Below Click on Customize Now and Press Next.

Select the Packages what you need to have in your System and Press Next.

Installation Started.

Click on Reboot

Welcome Screen will Come:

Accept the License Agreement and Click on Forward.

Set Up Software Updates Page will Come, no Changes here, Click Forward.

Create User page will come and it is recommended that you create an user, however I am not creating here. So Forward.

It will give you a warning. Press Yes. Date and Time page will come, set it and click Forward.

Kdump page will come, don’t do anything here. Click on Finish (at the bottom right corner). And we are done with installation.

Login Screen for Oracle Linux 6.3 64 bit will be like that:

Login with root user can give you the below error and you know better the meaning of this error, we need to have different user account apart from root user.

Close this and we are done with the installation.
