Installation of Grid Software 12.1.0.2

Okay, so now we have to install our GRID Software after we are done with all of our prerequisites.

Locate the grid software, which we got after unzipping the software. Call runInstaller file and proceed ahead:

Select the option – “Install and Configure Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a Cluster”

For now we will be planing to have Standard Cluster installed, so select the appropriate one from the below screen and Press Next:

As we selected the Typical Installation which we need in this case; we will be getting the screen where we have to configure the Scan Name and add the Node 2 information like below, to add the node we have to click “Add” and configure the second node:

Password less connectivity is not configured for both the nodes, so we can do that from the below screen, where we have to give oracle username and password and click on setup.

After we click on Setup, it will start the process and we will get the below screen:

After its done, it will be prompted like below: – Successfully Established.

Press OK and Test the Setup again to get it confirmed.

Press Next, it will check again like below before it goes to next step:

Configure the Network Interfaces as per the IPs configured for Public and Private. We can check the configuration in /etc/hosts file.

So after all tests passed, it is prompted to have the proper directories to have our GRID Software installed.

Press Next and below we have to select the Disk Group along with the disk associated with the Disk Group. So we are are naming it as DATA, however we cant see any disks below as of now.

To get the disks, click on “Change Discovery Path” and search with “/dev/asm-*”, once you press OK, it will be displayed like below

Select all the disks, redundancy would be “External” and Press Next.

Oracle 12c gives the below option to get the  root scripts executed automatically after the installation, however I wanted to see the configuration so I did not go for it.

So we got 1 warning which is exactly not that big to not to be ignored, because it does not impact anything. I read in different blogs that it happened because we used udev rules to configure our disks, if we would have used Oracle ASM library we might have not got this warning in 12.1.0.2, however we may get in 12.1.0.1 even we use udev or ASM libraries.

So ignore this warning and move on.

Note: Guys – here we had to run two scripts, somehow i missed to take the screenshot of it and ran the script and pressed OK. So bear with me in that please.
